Es gibt verschiedene Arten von Lungenkrebs, denn Lungenkrebs ist nicht gleich Lungenkrebs. Die Unterscheidung ist wichtig, da die Behandlung davon abhängig ist. Es wird zwischen einem kleinzelligen und einem nicht-kleinzelligen Lungenkarzinom unterschieden. Weitere Faktoren für die Behandlung sind der Allgemeinzustand des Patienten und wie ausgedehnt der Lungenkrebs bereits ist.
